You won't open it most days. Good.
A gym membership is a promise you make to yourself about who you are, and most days you don't go. Alphatac is the same kind of promise, with one difference: on the day you need it, it is the only thing in your pocket that still works. So the membership does its job quietly. Your plan shows how complete it is. A seasonal checklist arrives. A ten-minute drill shows up once a month. New content lands. And the map works the night it has to.
What you keep if you leave.
What is free, exactly?
Everything a first responder needs in the first hour. NOW in full. The whole medical and trauma pillar, from the thirty-second card to the source text it came from. The first-hour pages of every other pillar: emergency water, fire, flood, the first day without power, lost, heat and cold, shelter tonight. The compass. The medical and water calculators. Printing. The Medic 1 path. An offline map of one state, downloaded once and kept. A household plan on your own phone. No expiry, and nothing but sign-in and that one map ever needs the internet. It is called 911 Responder and it opens on the web with nothing to install. The browser caches it for offline use best-effort; the Membership keeps it on your phone for good.
What happens to my Vault if I cancel?
Responder is untouched; it was never part of the membership. Every pack you downloaded as a member stays on your device and stays readable, including through the plain reader that needs no app. The Vault is a file you own. What stops is the service: updates, new content, sync, groups, the family map, and support.
What does the $1 trial actually give me?
The whole Membership, for fifteen days, on every device you sign in on. It converts to the monthly plan on day sixteen unless you cancel, and cancelling is one tap in the app or one email.
Why is there a monthly plan for something I won't use daily?
Because readiness is a standing promise, not a daily habit, and a small monthly amount is how most people keep a promise like that. The membership renews the promise: your plan's completeness, a seasonal checklist, a monthly ten-minute drill, and new content. If you would rather decide once, the annual and lifetime plans exist for exactly that.
Is the Family Kit a subscription?
No. The kit is a one-time purchase that includes a year of membership for the household. After the year, the radios and the Node keep working with the plan you choose.
Do I need an account?
Not for Responder. You need to sign in, with Apple or Google, only when another person or another phone is involved: creating or joining a household or group, putting a second phone on the same plan, or assigning a Beacon to someone. Signing in is the moment "this phone" becomes "this family."
Do I buy through the App Store?
The app is free in the App Store and Google Play. The Membership is bought on alphatac.app, and the app opens that page. That keeps the price where it is instead of thirty percent higher.
Will founding prices go up?
Prices after early access may be higher. Founding members keep their founding price for as long as they stay members.
